ZAGREB/THE HAGUE, Nov 19 (Hina) - A former NATO commander, US General Wesley Clark, will give testimony in the trial of former Yugoslav president Slobodan Milosevic before the UN war crimes tribunal in The Hague in mid-December. #L# Clark will testify in a closed session on December 15 and 16, and his testimony will be made public after 48 hours, the tribunal said in a statement on Wednesday. A court decision setting out the conditions under which Clark will testify says that the trial chamber has granted extensive protective measures requested by the US government to protect its national interests. Clark's testimony will be monitored by two representatives of the US government who will be present in the courtroom, and its publication will be delayed for 48 hours to enable the US Government to review the transcript and make representations as to whether evidence should be redacted. As former NATO commander, Clark led a bombing campaign in the Yugoslav federation of Serbia and Montenegro for weeks to put a stop to the Yugoslav army operations in Kosovo. Clark was director for strategic plans and policy of the joint staff of the US armed forces in the 1990s when Americans were trying to negotiate an end to the war in Bosnia-Herzegovina. (hina) vm sb
