HIP-HB CANDIDATE SAYS SHE RECEIVED DEATH THREATS

OSIJEK, Nov 12 (Hina) - The head of the Croatian True Revival- Croatian Bloc (HIP-HB) coalition list in constituency no. 4, Snjezana Brzica, stated on Wednesday that she had received a number of death threats, which prompted her to cancel an election rally that was to take place in the eastern town of Belisce today. #L# Brzica, who is on the supervisory board of the Valpovo agricultural plant, said the threats were made by individuals from the company, i.e. a committee of workers set up to prevent the plant's closure. Brzica said she had received phone calls with death threats and had been informed about the threats by a number of workers who were present at talks which addressed ways to prevent her from appearing at election rallies. She said she would inform the police as well as the State Electoral Commission of the case. She accused, among others, President Stjepan Mesic and Vice Premier Zeljka Antunovic of making statements in support of the protesting workers from Valpovo. (hina) rml
