Carlo Giovanardi on Monday visited the Croatian seaport of Rijeka,
at the invitation of the Italian Union. #L#
The Italian Union (TU) informed him of the position of ethnic
Italians in Rijeka.
After the talks with TU representatives, Giovanardi told a news
conference that as far as the Italian government was concerned,
Croatia could now enter the European Union.
Giovanardi, who also held talks with Primorje-Gorski Kotar County
Prefect Zlatko Komadina and Rijeka Mayor Vojko Obersnel, commended
local authorities in Rijeka for their treatment of the Italian
minority.
