ROME, Nov 6 (Hina) - Christians do not want to and cannot accept a Europe that would be only or mainly market-oriented, the Archbishop of Zagreb and Deputy Chairman of the European Bishops' Conference, Cardinal Josip Bozanic, said in
Rome on Thursday. In a speech on Christian roots in Europe delivered at the launch of the book "University and the Church in Europe", Bozanic said that Christians wanted to continue having a positive view of Europe and its culture "in accordance with the past that has made our continent great down the centuries." The speech by Cardinal Bozanic will be entered in the meeting's proceedings under the title "Roots of Culture and the European Identity" as well as in other documents on the Christian roots of European culture which the Catholic Church wants incorporated in the future European Constitution.(hina) vm sb
