Pensioners expect the HSU list to pass the election threshold in
eight constituencies and win five to eight seats in parliament.
Calling on pensioners to vote for the HSU slate, pensioner
associations' leaders said pensioners had not been represented in
parliament so far, which was why they had been sidelined in all
relevant decisions.
The HSU slate is supported by the Federation of Croatian
Pensioners, the Croatian Pensioners Union, the Croatian Pensioners
Society, the coordinating body of the federation of pensioners in
public companies, and the Association of Interior Ministry
Pensioners.
Croatian Pensioners Union president Ivan Nahtigal, who heads the
slate in constituency no. 1, said the ruling coalition had met few
obligations from the agreement with pensioners associations,
signed before the 2000 election.
