Speaking at a press conference in Zagreb, Ivankovic said the whole
affair revealed the desire of judge Milenko Djakula to have him
brought to a court hearing in handcuffs for no reason in the middle
of the election campaign.
Ivankovic explained that he did not attend a hearing on October 28
because he did not receive a summons, that he notified the court
accordingly, and that he had documents proving that his note was
registered with the court on October 31.
He said it was a "senseless suit" which charged him as editor-in-
chief of the Vjesnik daily with something that had happened five or
six years ago. He added that under the criminal code that was in
force at the time an editor should not be held responsible for an
article whose author was known.
