After the signing ceremony in Zagreb, Minister Picula told
reporters that this move proved that besides its strategic goal of
joining EuroAtlantic integration processes, Croatia had ambitions
to promote good and friendly relations with countries outside
Europe as well.
Apart from the economic dimension, this agreement has yet another
dimension, namely the possibility of increasing the exchange of
people, which would certainly be realised. As a result, mutual
knowledge and understanding between Croatia and Iran will improve,
the Croatian official added.
The Iranian guest said historical ties between Iran and Croatia had
helped pave the way to speedier and more efficient development of
cooperation in all spheres of economy and culture.
During his stay in Zagreb, Minister Ahmed Masjed Jamei was received
by Croatian President Stjepan Mesic who, the minister said,
expressed interest in strengthening bilateral relations in
different fields.
Minister Masjed Jamei recalled that the department of the Persian
language and Iranian studies was set up at Zagreb University.
So far, the two countries have signed some 15 agreements and
memorandums of understanding covering various fields, Masjed Jamei
said expressing confidence that economic cooperation would be
enhanced in the future.
