ZAGREB, Oct 7 (Hina) - Croatian Foreign Minister Tonino Picula on Tuesday met the Transport and Road Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ahmad Khorram, who is a co-chairman of the Croatian-Iranian commission for economic
cooperation, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
ZAGREB, Oct 7 (Hina) - Croatian Foreign Minister Tonino Picula on
Tuesday met the Transport and Road Minister of the Islamic Republic
of Iran, Ahmad Khorram, who is a co-chairman of the Croatian-
Iranian commission for economic cooperation, the Foreign Ministry

Picula stressed that the two countries had many possibilities for
the promotion of bilateral cooperation, particularly in the field
of economy. He pointed to the importance of the signing of a
bilateral agreement on double taxation avoidance.
Minister Khorram spoke about the importance of bilateral documents
on cooperation between Iran and Croatia.
During Minister Picula's visit to Tehran this May, the two sides
expressed a wish for continuing the development of overall
political and economic relations, which has been confirmed in
Zagreb today, the Iranian official said.
Khorram also met President Stjepan Mesic, with whom he discussed
bilateral relations and the need to improve economic cooperation.
According to a statement released by Mesic's office, the Iranian
official demonstrated interest in concluding business contracts
for the reconstruction of railway lines and in the shipbuilding
industry.
Minister Khorram said that he and his Croatian hosts had agreed that
the two sides would start drafting bilateral agreements on road
traffic and tourism.
According to the statement, Croatia and Iran have so far concluded
17 agreements, which is a good legal framework for bilateral
cooperation.
The joint commission for economic cooperation is to hold two
meetings annually at the level of assistant economy ministers and
one meeting at the ministerial level.
