ZAGREB, Oct 3 (Hina) - Croatian Foreign Minister Tonino Picula and Greek Deputy Foreign Minister Anastasios Giannitsis in Zagreb on Friday signed a Memorandum of Understanding regarding the two ministries' joint projects. As part of
his working visit to Croatia, Deputy Minister Giannitsis, who is in charge of European issues, on Thursday morning met Croatian President Stjepan Mesic, Picula's deputy Ivan Simonovic and Deputy Prime Minister Goran Granic. Picula told reporters that the signed memorandum referred to a joint project on mine clearance and construction of housing for the Romany in Croatia. He said the memorandum was a continuation of excellent cooperation established during Greece's chairmanship over the European Union. "We are certain that our bilateral cooperation will continue to develop on other fronts as well, such as economy, transport and other issues of mutual interest," said Picula. Apart from

Apart from Croatia's integration with the EU, the talks also
focused on economic issues, particularly tourism. During his visit
to Croatia, Giannitsis is accompanied by officials from Greece's
tourism sector.
Greece hails Croatian President Stjepan Mesic's courageous steps
aimed at overcoming the past and encouraging friendly cooperation
in the region, Giannitsis said.
The Croatian foreign ministry reported that the Greek official also
met Croatian deputy foreign minister Ivan Simonovic, with whom he
discussed bilateral issues and Croatia's intention to expand
jurisdiction in the Adriatic. The Simonovic-Giannitsis talks also
focused on cooperation between the two countries' firefighting
units and Croatia's efforts to join the EU.
