Submitting a report on the audit of privatisation in the period
between November 2002 and May 2003, Krasic said that of a total of
227 audited companies, irregularities with suspected elements of
criminal offence were discovered in 34.
The Audit Office has pressed charges in 45 cases, mostly due to
suspected abuse of authority, conclusion of harmful contracts, and
official misconduct.
Charges for petty offences have been pressed in 67 cases, but in 65
cases the statue of limitations has run out, Krasic said.
She stressed that the number of employees in audited companies had
dropped by 60 percent during the privatisation process.
