BRUSSELS, Sep 22 (Hina) - A Croatian delegation at a preparatory meeting for a fishing conference in the Meditterranean, neing held in Brussels, on Monday advocated the protecting of the Mediterranean through the expansion of national
jurisdiction and co-ordination and co-operation of coastal countries.

The meeting of 24 Mediterranean countries and the European
Commission, focused on a ministerial declaration that is to be
adopted on November 25 & 26 in Venice.
During the discussion the Croatian delegation advocated that the
text of the declaration highlighted the significance of expanding
national jurisdiction and co-operation with regard to protecting
the fish stock and the environmental protection.
Deputy Minister Simonovic pointed to the dramatic decline of the
fish stock in the Adriatic as well as the danger of ecological
incidence which needed urgent attention.
On the margins of the conference, Simonovic met with the
delegations from Tunis, Spain and Italy. He also spoke with the
director of the EC Fishing Department's Director Cezare de Ben.
