RIJEKA, Sept 21 (Hina) - The Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) will run in coming parliamentary elections alone and certainly win, president Ivo Sanader said in Rijeka on Sunday where the party organised an electoral assembly for the eight constituency, which is comprised of Istria County and part of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County. #L# Before the assembly, Sanader told reporters that upon coming into power he would form a coalition government with centrist and centre-right parties. He said he supported the coalition deal between the Social Liberals and the Democratic Centre. Speaking about the HDZ platform, he highlighted the reduction of unemployment through the encouragement of small and medium-sized enterprises, reduction of taxes, increase of exports, a stronger judiciary, and the war on corruption. Sanader said the HDZ would fully "distance itself from those who smeared the party's name". He went on to say the incumbent government's policy was ineffectual and disastrous and that the "people in power are very skilful when it comes to political intrigue but don't know how to run the country". Sanader recommended to Prime Minister Ivica Racan and parliament president Zlatko Tomcic to set the date of elections. He said that upon coming to power the HDZ would draw up an election law which will state the exact month four years ahead when the next parliamentary ballot is due to be held. He suggested those at the assembly should not vote for Tomcic's Croatian Peasant Party because that was a vote for Racan's Social Democrats. Sanader also mentioned the recent promotion of PM Racan's wife and contracts Public Works "Minister (Radimir) Cacic has given to his own companies," saying it was deplorable when the position of power was abused for personal gain, nepotism and cronyism.
