ZAGREB, Sept 21 (Hina) - The Croatian Defence Ministry and Armed Forces employ a total of 5,224 women, or 16 percent of the entire number of employees. Of 41 women with higher ranks, no one is general. One woman is brigadier, 15 are
colonels and 25 are majors, according to figures released by the defence ministry's personnel department.

number of employees. Of 41 women with higher ranks, no one is
general. One woman is brigadier, 15 are colonels and 25 are majors,

However, Croatia can boast of being among few countries with the
woman as the defence minister. Mrs. Zeljka Antunovic has been
holding that post since last year. In addition, one of her
assistants is also a woman, Mrs. Jelena Grcic-Polic.
