The purpose of the overhaul is to adapt this railroad to tilting
trains which will be introduced into service within the pan-
European Vc corridor. The highway within this corridor should
connect the southernmost Croatian seaport of Ploce with Sarajevo,
Osijek and Budapest, while the railway line will contribute to a
better offer of services in the entire transport system in the said
route.
Of 96.6 million euros of funds, forty (40) millions will be secured
through a loan granted by the World Bank, and the rest will be
allocated from the Croatian state budget.
The funds will be used for the repairs on the rails, modernisation
of railway stations and the improvement of railway junctions so
that they can reach highest European standards.
