VUKOVAR, Sept 10 (Hina) - U.S. Ambassador to Croatia Ralph Frank,
who is on an official visit to Vukovar-Srijem County, on Wednesday
held talks with the president of the joint council of (Serb-
dominated) municipalities (ZVO), Jovan Ajdukovic. #L#
"We firmly support the path of the Croatian people towards a better
future and their bids to leave a difficult period in the past," the
U.S. ambassador told Hina after the talks with Ajdukovic. He said he
came to the county to hear the opinion of the Serb community as well
as of the representatives of the county and city authorities.
Ajdukovic told Frank that members of the Serb national minority
wanted to give their contribution to Croatia's drawing closer to
the European Union.
The ZVO president also informed the ambassador of the problems the
Serb national minority was faced with.
The U.S. ambassador will meet representatives of the county and
city authorities later today.
