SARAJEVO/LJUBLJANA, Sept 7 (Hina) - Bosnia and Herzegovina wishes
to help stabilise peace in the region, the country presidency's
chairman, Dragan Covic, said in an interview with the Slovene daily
Delo of Monday ahead of his visit to Slovenia. #L#
Covic said Sarajevo-Ljubljana relations were excellent, with one
of the few unresolved issues being Bosnian citizens' deposits made
with Ljubljanska Bank at the time of the former Yugoslavia. During
his stay in Slovenia, Covic said the Bosnian delegation would
propose possible solutions.
Asked about border disputes in the region, Covic said that in the
future Bosnia would work towards stabilising peace.
Next April Bosnia will host a conference of Southeast European
countries, by which time "we intend to create conditions for the
settlement of those disputes so that Bosnia will truly prove itself
as a guarantor of regional stability," he announced.
Covic voiced confidence that border issues with neighbouring
countries would be resolved by the end of the year, at a meeting of
the inter-state council of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia and
Montenegro in November, and at a meeting of the Bosnian-Croatian
inter-state council in December.
Bosnia's three-men state presidency is visiting Slovenia on Monday
and Tuesday for talks with the most senior officials. A business
conference has also been scheduled.
Covic told Delo that Slovenia, which joins the European Union next
year, could help Bosnia prepare to access the Union.
