MOLAT, Sept 7 (Hina) - The 60th anniversary of the liberation of inmates from an Italian WW2 camp on the island of Molat, off the central Croatian coast, was marked on Sunday as a monument was erected on the site of the former camp
under the organisation of the Association of Anti-Fascist Fighters.

About 25,000 people, mainly elderly, women, and children, were
detained at the camp over a two-year period, of whom 500 died due to
torture and starvation, it was said today.
Boris Baraba from the Association said Italy should pay damages to
surviving inmates.
