LJUBLJANA/BRUSSELS, Sept 2 (Hina) - Slovene Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel has again sent a letter to a number of European Union officials in Brussels, protesting against Croatia's plans to declare an economic zone in the Adriatic Sea, Slovene media reported on Tuesday afternoon, quoting Slovene diplomatic sources in Brussels. #L# The state news agency STA reports that Rupel has written to European Union commissioners Guenter Verheugen and Chris Patten, who are in charge of the EU enlargement and foreign policy, the EU Council of Ministers' secretary-general Javier Solana, and Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini in his capacity as head of diplomacy of the country chairing the EU. Slovene diplomats in Brussels say that EU officials unofficially have big reservations about Slovenia's interventions and that they are in contact with both sides. However, they warn that the EU has no direct mechanism of mediation when it comes to the proclamation of sea zones or border disputes, and advise restraint and diplomatic steps, Slovene Radio reported.
