ZAGREB, Sept 2 (Hina) - Croatia's exports totalled almost 24 billion kuna, or 3.5 billion US dollars in the first seven months of this year, while imports came to 54.3 billion kuna (nearly eight billion dollars), according to
provisional figures issued by the Central Bureau of Statistics.

The coverage of import by export was a low 44 percent, while the
deficit in foreign trade came to 30.35 billion kuna or over USD4.4
billion.
Exports, expressed in the national currency kuna, rose by 5.7
percent in the first seven months of 2003 as against the same period
in 2002, but they climbed by 25.9 percent if expressed in dollars.
Imports rose by 11.8 percent if expressed in the kuna and by 33.2
percent if expressed in dollars. This is a consequence of the
dollar's depreciation as against the kuna.
