As co-owner of the Krsko plant, the Croatian Electricity Board
(HEP) has requested the payment of around US$54 million in damages
for undelivered electricity to Croatia. Slovene officials have
described the amount as excessive.
The Slovene Environment and Zoning Ministry suggested in today's
press release that a venue and date of talks should be set as soon as
possible so as to settle "the outstanding issues concerning the
nuclear power plant" in a peaceful manner and to mutual benefit.
Kopac wrote in his letter that the period between the ratification
of the agreement on Krsko by the two countries' parliaments, when
electricity was not delivered to HEP, should be solved through a new
agreement.
