ZAGREB, Aug 18 (Hina) - The Croatian Christian Democratic Union
(HKDU) said Monday that "the requests of Slovene nationalist leader
Zmago Jelincic to annex Zadar to Italy and Istria to Slovenia have
'unmasked' Slovenia's official policy". #L#
In a statement issued today, the HKDU says that it will oppose
anybody who makes claims on Croatian territory.
The party requests of the government to review its relations with
Slovenia, including open issues such as "Piran Bay, the Krsko
nuclear power plant, St. Gera, Ljubljanska Bank and obvious
aspirations to Croatian territory".
Slovenia's official policy "as relayed by its spokesman Zmago
Jelincic, indicates it has copied the greater Serbian strategy",
the HKDU says.
The party asks of the government and parliament president to start
talks on Croatia-Slovenia relations at the first autumn
parliamentary session. The government should urgently request an
official note from Slovenia regarding Jelincic's statements, says
the HKDU.
