BANJA LUKA, Aug 16 (Hina) - The minister of commerce and tourism of the Bosnian Serb entity of Republika Srpska, Boris Gaspar, has confirmed in today's issue of the "Nezavisne novine" daily that three market inspectors have been
removed from office for their involvement in the smuggling of beef through Croatia into Bosnia-Herzegovina.

the Bosnian Serb entity of Republika Srpska, Boris Gaspar, has
confirmed in today's issue of the "Nezavisne novine" daily that
three market inspectors have been removed from office for their
involvement in the smuggling of beef through Croatia into Bosnia-
Herzegovina. #L#
The three inspectors, against whom the entity customs
administration has pressed charges, have issued quality
certificates without checking any of 18 trucks carrying frozen beef
falsely declared as frozen vegetables.
The smuggling chain, through which beef was imported from Italy,
Poland, Slovakia and the Czech Republic through Croatia and
Republika Srpska into the Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina, was
severed at the border crossing of Bosanska Gradiska in April.
After an additional investigation, the customs administration
pressed charges against another eight customs officers and 15 other
persons, including hauliers from Croatia.
