ZAGREB, Aug 13 (Hina) - Croatian Finance Minister Mato Crkvenac
said Wednesday that the first part of government guarantees for
Rijeka's Viktor Lenac shipyard, worth US$2.35 million, would be
activated today for the construction of a platform. #L#
After the shipyard's majority stockholder, Giancarlo Zacchello,
paid funds to cover a part of employees' wages, the first part of the
guarantees will be activated today for the construction of the
"Marica" gas platform, Crkvenac told reporters.
The minister said that the shipyard's representatives would
discuss with the economy ministry and the Croatian Bank for
Reconstruction and Development and agree on a model by which the
funds from the guarantee would be used exclusively for the
construction of the platform.
Zacchello on Tuesday paid funds for the payment of 3,000 kuna to
each worker. Workers should receive another 3,000 kuna each by
September 1.
Economy Minister Ljubo Jurcic announced earlier in the week that
government guarantees for the construction of the platform would be
activated after Zacchello pays one million US dollars for workers'
wages and by September 1 another half a million, to be used for
workers' salaries.
The government had given the shipyard state guarantees worth US$7.4
million for the construction of the platform.
