FIRE THAT BROKE OUT IN NOVI VINODOLSKI CONTAINED

ZAGREB, Aug 2 (Hina) - A fire that broke out at about 1530 hours on Saturday in the northern Adriatic coastal town of Novi Vinodolski was contained at about 1830 hours with the aid of firefighting planes. The wind-swept flames caught about 50 hectares of underbrush and threatened houses and a tourist complex accommodating about 1,600 tourists. The fire-affected area is being monitored for fear that the fire may be reactivated by the wind. The fires that broke out on the southern islands of Hvar, Brac and Bisevo a few days ago have been brought under control, but firefighters are still at the scene because there is a danger of fires starting again due to frequent wind changes. About 1,700 hectares of land have been consumed in the blazes on Hvar, about 1,300 hectares on Brac, and about 380 hectares on Bisevo, according to a report from the National Fire Centre in Divulje.(hina) vm
