Simonic apologised on behalf of the Croatian government and his
own, and expressed regret over the incident, conveying the
government's condemnation of it. He said that all mechanisms of the
system had been activated to find and arrest the perpetrators as
soon as possible.
Bakr thanked the government, particularly the police, for the care
and attention they were paying to the attack on the son of the member
of the embassy staff, as well as to an earlier attack on an Egyptian
student staying in Croatia.
He said the Egyptian Embassy considered this an accident and
completely trusted the Croatian police. The attacks did not put in
question Croatia's reputation as a friendly country, he added.
