After the closed-door meeting, the HNS leader told reporters that
she notified Prodi of Croatians' increasing pro-European
orientation. She corroborated her statement with the results of an
opinion poll conducted in March when about 74 percent of
respondents supported Croatia's ambitions for European
integration, while in early June this support rose to 82 percent.
According to Pusic, this shows that Croatia sees its European
orientation as a guarantee for its stability and the respect for
human rights and the rule of law.
She added that Prodi was a great advocate of Croatia's admission
into the European Union and that he believes that Croatia has
potential and ability as well as the duty to help other countries in
the region to reach the level of European legislation and
institutions.
