Gross Domestic Product growth in this year's first quarter, as well
as the year before, was based on domestic consumption which was
enabled by strong loan expansion, particularly towards citizens,
which caused an increase in foreign debt. Even though the level of
Croatia's indebtedness is not yet critical, the situation is
alarming.
