GOVERNMENT ON MOTION TO WITHDRAW FROM DRUZBA-ADRIA AGREEMENT

ZAGREB, June 26 (Hina) - The Croatian government on Thursday forwarded into parliament a suggestion not to pass a draft decision on Croatia withdrawing from an agreement on the implementation of the Druzba-Adria oil pipeline.
ZAGREB, June 26 (Hina) - The Croatian government on Thursday forwarded into parliament a suggestion not to pass a draft decision on Croatia withdrawing from an agreement on the implementation of the Druzba-Adria oil pipeline. #L# The decision was moved by Croatian Party of Rights MPs Anto Djapic, Miroslav Rozic, Tonci Tadic and Vlado Jukic. The MPs filed the motion because of ecological dangers and possible pollution of the Adriatic, problems surrounding the treatment of ballast waters in tankers, and air pollution, as well as possible ship accidents. If Croatia realises the projects, it becomes an important factor in the export of Russian and transit oil of other countries onto international markets. The project will also step up Croatia's integration with the EU and global economy. Because of the indisputable political interest and significance of the project, it brings Croatia numerous economic benefits. The government also discussed the implementation of laws and other measures adjusting Croatia's legislation to that of the EU. (hina) lml sb
