ZAGREB, June 24 (Hina) - Most members of the Croatian Federation of Trade Unions (HUS) who participated in a referendum conducted from June 16 through 18 voted against the results of negotiations between the government, employers and
unions on changes to the Labour Act and a set of by-laws, the HUS said in a statement Tuesday.

Of a total of 33,629 HUS members, 19,829, or 58.9%, voted in the
referendum.
A total of 16,080, i.e. 84.7% of those who participated, voted
against the adoption of negotiation results, while 2,956 or 14.9%
voted for. Sixty-five ballots (0.03%) were invalid.
Based on these results, the HUS leadership will pass decisions on
further activities, to be undertaken independently or in agreement
with other unions, with the aim of improving the suggested changes
to the act, the HUS said.
