One of the issues discussed was Rop's alleged statement that
Slovenia would make support to Croatia's bids to join the EU
conditional on completion of succession to socialist Yugoslavia.
After Rop refuted the statement in the media, he did so again in
talks with Mesic and Picula, emphasising Slovenia's unquestionable
support to Croatia's efforts to join the EU.
The Slovene official stressed that Croatia's accession was also in
Slovenia's interest, adding he advocated the accession as soon as
possible on every occasion at international meetings.
