After gathering in downtown Belgrade late on Sunday, the fans
headed for the Croatian embassy. Despite a police cordon, they
managed to get in the yard, climb on the balcony of the building and
take off the coat of arms and Croatian flag, which they later set on
fire at Trg Republike square.
In Novi Sad, hooligans smashed glass on all buildings at the city's
main square. Local newspaper Dnevnik said today the "visibly drunk
guys" also wrote graffiti reading "Sljiva Hero" and "Seselj God",
referring to Veseljin Sljivancanin and Vojislav Seselj, Hague war
crimes tribunal indictees.
The incidents followed a water polo match played in Slovenia's
Kranj where Serbia-Montenegro defeated Croatia.
