Talking to reporters in Pakrac, he said Croatian authorities had a
duty to protect every citizen and especially Gotovina, who he said
was innocent.
Speaking about the upcoming parliamentary election, Kovacevic said
the HKDU was in favour of a right-wing coalition comprised of the
HKDU, the Croatian Party of Rights, the Croatian Pure Party of
Rights, the Croatian Bloc, and the Croatian True Revival.
He regretted, however, that the parties had not been able to reach
an agreement due to the "egotism of the right wing".
If such a "wide nation-building coalition" is not formed, the HKDU
will run in the ballot independently, Kovacevic said.
