ZAGREB, June 13 (Hina) - The decision to extradite Ivica Rajic to
the Hague's UN war crimes tribunal (ICTY) is final and enforceable,
Croatian Justice Minister Ingrid Anticevic Marinovic on Friday
informed the government's office for cooperation with the ICTY
which should agree with the tribunal on the date and way of Rajic's
transfer to The Hague. #L#
Marinovic told Hina she had sent a memorandum to the government's
office, informing it that the Supreme Court had confirmed the
ruling of the Zagreb County Court regarding Rajic's extradition.
The decision thus became final and enforceable, she said.
The minister is the only person who can postpone his extradition,
but only in case of illness or "some other particularly valid
reason".
Rajic has been indicted, on command and individual responsibility,
for the killing of at least 16 Bosniak civilians in the central
Bosnian village of Stupni Do in October 1993, when he was commander
of an operative unit of the Croat Defence Council in Kiseljak.
The indictment was issued in 1995, but he went into hiding until
this April when he was arrested in Croatia's Split.
