Committee members welcomed the government's decision to withdraw a
provision according to which insulting the President of the
Republic would be treated as a criminal act and welcomed the
introduction of provisions treating the glorification of former
fascist states, racism and Xenophobia as a criminal act.
The changes to the Penal Code, among other things, introduce life
imprisonment, extend statute of limitation from four to six years,
introduce special punishment for conspiracy to commit and finance
terrorist actions, and introduces stricter penalties for child
pornography and other forms of computer crime, as well as
international prostitution.
