OSIJEK COUNTY OSIJEK, June 3 (Hina) - President of Osijek-Baranja County branch of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) Branimir Glavas told a press conference on Tuesday, that after the crisis in local county authorities, the ruling
coalition appointed Jovan Jelic, a member of the Serbian Democratic Independent Party (SDSS) but also a member of the Chetniks from Erdut, into the local executive authorities of the county.
OSIJEK, June 3 (Hina) - President of Osijek-Baranja County branch
of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) Branimir Glavas told a press
conference on Tuesday, that after the crisis in local county
authorities, the ruling coalition appointed Jovan Jelic, a member
of the Serbian Democratic Independent Party (SDSS) but also a
member of the Chetniks from Erdut, into the local executive
authorities of the county. #L#
At the news conference, organised by councillors from opposition
parties, namely the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), Croatian
Social Liberal Party (HSLS) and Croatian Party of Rights (HSP), it
was said that Jelic was also a liaison officer for Serb para-
military formations in 1991.
As Glavas said, the HDZ will certainly not take part in any
executive body in the County where there can be someone involved in
the armed rebellion and who had a police record and who ironically
went under the alias of 'Jastreb' (Hawk).
Opposition representatives reiterated that they would use all
legal and political means available to dissolve the County Assembly
and call for new elections.
