The tender for the television concession at the state level,
currently used by HTV, was published last December. The deadline
for submitting final offers expires at midnight tonight.
Twenty-two companies have collected the necessary documents for
bidding.
Although only companies registered in Croatia can bid for the
concession, the media are speculating that some foreign media
companies stood behind those which have collected the documents,
such as media moguls Silvio Berlusconi and Rupert Murdock or the
German ground television station "RTL".
The media are also speculating that the Rovinj Tobacco Factory,
Croatian and British mobile telephony operators Vip and Vodafone,
Nova TV, the Croatian Olympic Committee, the Croatian Musicians
Union, Croatian Roads company, Croatia Records company, etc., also
stood behind the companies bidding.
Companies which have paid 15,000 kuna (EUR2,000) for the documents
include Kutina's television station NET, a Zagreb company, RTL, as
well as the Transmitters and Communications company.
