MOSTAR, May 17 (Hina) - A three-day regional conference on missing persons started in Sarajevo on Saturday. The purpose of the event is to encourage institutions and governments in the area of ex-Yugoslavia to cooperate in
establishing the truth about the fate of more than 40,000 people who went missing in the last decade's wars.

The conference was organised by the International Commission for
Missing Persons (ICMP).
The conference should encourage the collection and exchange of
information on missing people and urge donors to help finance the
process of identification of exhumed remains.
The conference is attended by officials in charge of missing
persons from Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia and Montenegro,
Macedonia and Kosovo as well as representatives of non-government
organisations and institutions for missing persons.
