BELGRADE, May 6 (Hina) - Posters calling for defending Veselin
Sljivancanin, accused by the Hague tribunal for war crimes
committed in Croatia's Vukovar in 1991, surfaced in downtown
Belgrade on Monday. #L#
The posters were found on the building of the Serbia-Montenegro
Army's general staff and the Mostar Intersection, one of the
biggest in the capital.
The posters show a picture of Sljivancanin, in a uniform of the
former Yugoslav People's Army, kissing a sabre, and read "We won't
give you Veselin Sljivancanin. We will defend him until the end".
The posters were signed by the "Veselin Sljivancanin Defence
Committee".
Identical posters appeared in Belgrade 18 months ago, when the
Hague tribunal's chief prosecutor, Carla Del Ponte, visited the
city.
Sljivancanin is still on the run, despite repeated appeals by
Serbia-Montenegro officials that he turn himself in like Mile
Mrksic and Miroslav Radic, also Hague indictees, did.
