PODGORICA, May 11 (Hina) - According to the Centre for Democratic Transition, 36 percent of citizens went to the polls for the presidential elections in Montenegro by 18.30 hours Sunday. This is five percent less than at the last
unsuccessful elections held early this year.

Three candidates are running for the president of Montenegro --
Filip Vujanovic of the ruling Democratic Party of Socialists,
Miodrag Zivkovic of the Liberal Party and independent candidate
Draga Hajdukovic.
According to the new election law, the candidate who receives more
than a half of votes of those who went to the polls will become the
president. should this not happen, new elections will be organised
in two weeks at which two candidates with most votes will run.
The presidential elections in Montenegro are monitored by about
2,000 observers from the country and abroad. First unofficial
results are expected at around 22.00 hours.
