Canadian Ambassador Dennis Snider says that the run, whose purpose
is to raise funds for cancer research, has been held in Croatia
three times.
The run has been organised since 1980 in tribute to a young
Canadian, Terry Fox, who lost his leg due to cancer, but continued
running to collect money for his treatment.
The Canadian Embassy organised the race with the help of the
Croatian League Against Cancer.
