ZAGREB, April 29 (Hina) - Greetings on the occasion of Labour Day, May 1, were forwarded on Tuesday by Sabor President Zlatko Tomcic, Labour and Social Welfare Minister Davorko Vidovic and the Social Democratic Party.
ZAGREB, April 29 (Hina) - Greetings on the occasion of Labour Day, May 1, were forwarded on Tuesday by Sabor President Zlatko Tomcic, Labour and Social Welfare Minister Davorko Vidovic and the Social Democratic Party. #L# Tomcic pointed out that this year's May 1 holiday were marked with significant steps towards achieving Croatia's strategic objectives on the international scene. Croatia's candidacy for the EU membership and its stable path towards Euro-Atlantic security alliance are unfolding with the approval of the majority of Croatian citizens and international community support, Tomcic said. Minister Vidovic expresses hope for better co-operation between trade unions, employers and the government as well as speedier social dialogue that will make Croatia a better country marked with social security, a country in which everyone will be able to work and live with dignity from the fruits of their own labour. SDP expressed its satisfaction that this year's Labour Day celebration will be held in an atmosphere of understanding between social partners. Croatian Premier Ivica Racan greeted Croatian citizens on the occasion of May 1 - International Labour Day - pointing out that this government would continue to work on improving labour conditions and rights. Reminding of the three-year tradition of social dialogue initiated by his Cabinet, the premier expressed his satisfaction with the efforts invested thus far and the results achieved. "We know that it's necessary to invest our effort so that we can contribute towards building social partnership and improving all round relations on the labour market and in that way, achieve economic prosperity for all Croatian citizens," Racan said. "We've come a long way with our social partners, a path of co- operation and negotiations with the aim of advancing our labour environment so that we can meet global challenges and become equal partners in world labour trends.
