OSIJEK, April 26 (hina) - Democratic Centre (DC) vice president Vesna Skare-Ozbolt said in eastern Croatia's Osijek on Saturday she had requested an urgent parliamentary debate on Croatia's foreign indebtedness.

Skare-Ozbolt said at a news conference the incumbent government had
inherited a debt of US$9 billion three and a half years ago, but that
according to the latest announcements the debt could reach $19-20
billion by the end of the year.
"Without asking parliament, the government is incurring debts as it
wishes, and the current pace of (that) must be stopped," the DC
official said, adding the government must inform parliament in
detail as to those debts.
