The process for the continuation of the serving of the sentence in
another country was implemented based on an agreement between the
Croatian government and the governments of Bosnia-Herzegovina and
the Bosnian Federation on the mutual execution of court rulings.
The agreement was signed in Split in 1996.
The justice ministry granted the request forwarded by the Bosnian
Serb entity's justice ministry on January 30 because the transfer
process is based also on a Council of Europe convention on the
transfer of prisoners, which Croatia ratified in November 1996.
According to the above mentioned agreement, the country which
passed a sentence, in this case Croatia, could again obtain the
right to impose the punishment if the convict evades serving his
sentence in the country to which he was transferred.
