ZAGREB, April 15 (Hina) - "Croatia has been given a chance which it must not miss," Croatian President Stjepan Mesic told the Voice of America Tuesday, commenting on the decision of the EU's Council of Ministers to have the European
Commission define an opinion of Croatia's application for membership in the Union.

must not miss," Croatian President Stjepan Mesic told the Voice of
America Tuesday, commenting on the decision of the EU's Council of
Ministers to have the European Commission define an opinion of
Croatia's application for membership in the Union. #L#
"By adopting the application, they accepted the principle of
individual approach," Mesic said and added that the ball was in
Croatia's court. Croatia can be recognised as a law-based state
only if it meets the remainder of its commitments, he said.
"Only as such can (Croatia) expect the European Commission to give
it the green light to start negotiations on admission".
