According to a statement released by SFOR in Sarajevo, Oric was
apprehended on Thursday, April 10, and was transferred to The Hague
where he is expected to make his initial appearance before the ICTY.
The statement added that there were no injuries during the
operation of Oric's apprehension.
According to local media, Oric was nabbed by 15 masked
international peace-keepers who were waiting for him in front of
his flat in Tuzla, north-eastern Bosnia, last night. During the
swift operation, he was snatched and taken into the unknown
direction.
Oric is charged with a few counts of war crimes, including murder
and cruel treatment of Bosnian Serbs detained at a police station in
the enclave of Srebrenica while it was under Muslim control,
according to Reuters. He led the defence of Srebrenica until it was
overrun in 1995 by Serb forces who massacred some 8,000 Muslims.
