ZAGREB, April 6 (Hina) - The prosecution of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) said on Sunday it expected Croatia to extradite a former commander of the Croat Defence Council (HVO), Ivica Rajic, whom
it had indicted for the killing Muslim civilians in Stupni Do in 1993.
ZAGREB, April 6 (Hina) - The prosecution of the International
Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) said on Sunday
it expected Croatia to extradite a former commander of the Croat
Defence Council (HVO), Ivica Rajic, whom it had indicted for the
killing Muslim civilians in Stupni Do in 1993. #L#
"We expect the procedure which will enable his extradition to end,"
the spokeswoman for the ICTY, Florence Hartmann told Hina over the
phone.
Hartmann said that Zagreb's ICTY office was informed of Rajic's
arrest on Sunday.
Ivica Rajic, aka Viktor Andric, was the commander of the Second
Operational Group of the HVO based in Kiseljak, and is regarded
liable for the slaying of at least 16 inhabitants of the Stupni Do
village on 23 October 1993, according to the ICTY's indictment.
Croatian police arrested him on Saturday evening based on an arrest
warrant issued by the Hague-based tribunal.
