The government's office for cooperation with the UN war crimes
tribunal served Bobetko's lawyer, Bosiljko Misetic, with the
indictment which the ICTY issued against that Croatian general on
23 August 2002, the statement read.
The office served the indictment on the basis of the ICTY's order of
19 March 2003 and pursuant to a deposition in which the retired
general asked of the government to forward all acts, letters and
depositions of the ICTY to attorney Bosiljko Misetic whom he chose
as his lawyer and in line to the authorities he gave to him for this
purpose, the statement said.
A spokesman for the ICTY, Jim Landale, said earlier on Friday that
the ICTY was expecting a response from Zagreb on the Bobetko case
and that the competent judge would decide on further steps.
