ZAGREB, April 4 (Hina) - The association of disabled Croatian
Homeland War veterans (HVIDR) on Friday dismissed accusations by
War Veterans' Minister Ivica Pancic about it "not respecting the
legal order". #L#
"We dismiss all accusations about disrespect for the legal order
and consider Minister Pancic's statement as inappropriate. He
should be taking care of Homeland War victims, and not accuse those
who gave their lives and parts of their bodies for the creation of
Croatia of undermining the legal system and independence of our
homeland," it is noted in conclusions adopted at Friday's session
of the association's presidency.
The presidency denounced "Pancic's blackmailing Croatian veterans
by depriving them of regular budgetary funding".
The association is independent from any policy and political party
and will continue to be so in the future, the conclusions say.
The presidency voiced satisfaction with the veterans having one
defence minister, the late Gojko Susak, who called them Croatian
soldiers and true defenders of Croatia's sovereignty, in contrast
to the incumbent authorities which were exposing them to "insults
and public attacks".
