Marija Milosevic said her mother had left Serbia for Moscow on
February 23 with documents authorised by the police. "Her being on
the run is out of the question," Marija Milosevic said, adding her
mother taught at Moscow's Lomonosov University but she did not know
if she had any classes at present.
"She travels there also to meet Marko (the son), who lives there,
and she frequently flies from there to The Hague to visit dad,"
Marija Milosevic said in the interview.
Commenting on statements by Serbian authorities that they would
issue an international arrest warrant for her mother, Marija
Milosevic answered "they can go ahead and issue it".
The Serbian police today stated that Mirjana Markovic, the
president of the Yugoslav Left (JUL) party directorate was in
Russia and had been forwarded a summons via her attorney to
immediately return to the country and report with the police. The
police said that if she failed to do so as soon as possible, an
international warrant for her arrest would be issued.
Mirjana Markovic and her husband Slobodan Milosevic are suspected
of participating in the abduction and killing of a former Serbian
president and Milosevic's opponent, Ivan Stambolic.
