ZAGREB, March 30 (Hina) - Croatia marked a record high rate in the economic growth in 2002 in comparison to several previous years, and the Gross Domestic Product really climbed by 5.2 percent last year as against 2001.

economic growth in 2002 in comparison to several previous years,
and the Gross Domestic Product really climbed by 5.2 percent last
year as against 2001. #L#
According to a report released on the web site of the Central Bureau
of Statistics, the increase in GDP was based on the expansion in
domestic demand, i.e. a 6.6-percent rise in consumer spending and a
strong growth of 10.1 percent in gross investments.
As regards activities with the highest growth rate, 12.7 percent
was registered in the trade sector and 13.9 percent-increase in
construction. The industry saw a real rise of four percent in 2002
from 2001.
